Marten Huitsing, Bedum 1965, loves people and that is reflected in his work.

"The painting of people is like I'm communicating with them, sometimes I touch them, sometimes it's just gone for a moment."
The play of light and dark and the mutual influences of colour are playfully applied.
"Nothing stands by itself, all affect each other."

Although he very much loves the landscape, this subject is often pushed back by the strong motivation to be working with people.
The paintings always start from an abstract approach.

There are also many geometric distributions or constructions in his compositions. This is perhaps the influence of his technical background. "Without a well-thought-out composition, I do not have to begin a painting, the composition is half the work."
Marten graduated in 2010 from the Classical Academy of Painting.
